Deputies: Wife of Florida triple murder suspect may have been killed up to a year ago

TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. _ A body found in the yard of a Port Richey home on Sunday is a missing woman whose parents and brother were found murdered at their home in Tarpon Springs on New Year's Day, according to relatives and the Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

Jamie Ivancic, 21, lived at the Port Richey home with her husband Shelby Svensen, who is a suspect in the murder of Ivancic's three relatives. She may have been killed months earlier, relatives said.

Investigators believe Richard Ivancic, 71, his wife Laura Ivancic, 59, and the couple's 25-year-old son, Nicholas Ivancic, were killed either Dec. 19 or 20.

The three were killed by blunt force trauma from an object, according to Mike Ivancic, Richard Ivancic's son from his first marriage. Mike Ivancic also confirmed to The Tampa Bay Times that the body found was Jamie Ivancic and said she may have been dead for six to eight months.

During a Tuesday afternoon news conference, Chief Deputy Jeff Harrington confirmed her death also was caused by blunt force trauma, and that she may have been dead for up to a year.

Svensen, 25, who also goes by Shelby Nealy, was found in Ohio with Laura Ivancic's stolen SUV. He was arrested by local authorities and faces at least three first-degree murder charges in the deaths. Police have not said if he is a suspect in his wife's disappearance but investigators said information Svensen provided led them to the home in Port Richey.

Mike Ivancic called the crime scene a "gruesome mess" but declined to comment further about the victims' injuries.

Svensen is expected to be extradited soon for an arraignment in Florida later this month, Mike Ivancic said.

Svensen's ex-wife Kaitlyn Farahay told the Times last week that he stopped by her home on Christmas Eve _ four or five days after the slayings in Tarpon Springs _ to drop off books for their 6-year-old daughter. Farahay said Svensen had mentioned his in-laws once, saying he "hated the brother and the parents are mean to him or something."

Mike Ivancic told the Times, "The details that are continuing to come out really shed light on how messed up Shelby was and what he was thinking."
