KANCHANABURI: The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation is probing alleged encroachment in Salak Phra Wildlife Sanctuary in Muang district after reports that forest land had been turned into a golf course.
Director-General Atthapol Charoenchansa said he had ordered officials to investigate.
A preliminary inquiry found officials had previously seized two encroached plots in the area, measuring 1.22 rai and 1.31 rai, in 2024 and 2026 respectively.
Investigators also found extensive grass planting resembling a golf course and irrigation pipes linked to nearby land under a possession claim. Officials are now seeking records to identify the current occupant of a 13.5-rai plot after the original claimant stated he had sold the land several years ago.
