Depot in the Castle at Cardiff Castle: Stage times, tickets, line up, banned items, food and drink and more

Returning for 2023 is the summer festival Depot in the Castle which takes place in Cardiff Castle. This year the British pop rock band Bastille are headlining the event while Example and Cat Burns are among the other performers.

Depot in the Castle will take place on Saturday, July 8 after a week of impressive gigs at the castle including Hozier and The Lumineers. You can keep up to date with the latest What's On news by signing up to the newsletter here.

Who is in the lineup?

The British pop rock band Bastille are headlining the event and they are best known for hits including Pompeii, Good Grief, Of The Night and Things We Lost in the Fire. Rapper and musician Example will also be at Depot in the Castle.

He is best known for his hits including Kickstarts, Change the Way You Kissed Me and All Night. A Welsh star, Tom Jenkins, will also be taking to the stage at Depot in the Castle. His songs include Products of the Western World and Misery In Comfort.

DJ and MC General Levy is part of the lineup for Depot in the Castle. He is best known for the track "Incredible" which he recorded with M-Beat and he has collaborated with artists including Chase & Status and Suggs from the band Madness.

Caity Baser, who is a British singer-songwriter from Southampton, will also be taking to the stage. She is best known for her songs X &Y, Pretty Boys and Kiss You. She has worked and collaborated with Mae Muller, Stefflon Don, Sigala and Joel Corry.

Fresh from another Welsh gig, where she supported George Ezra at Chepstow Racecourse, is Cat Burns who completes the Depot in the Castle line-up. Some of her songs, including Go, have gone viral on TikTok and she has supported global pop star Ed Sheeran. Ian Davies will be kicking off the show and Eddie Raph's party mix will be finishing the night.

Are there road closures?

There will be no city centre road closures for the Castle gig, but traffic will be paused temporarily on Castle Street as people leave the gig.

Where to park

There's no parking at the castle, but Cardiff has plenty of parking in the city centre.

City centre car parks will be available including North Road car parks, St David's Shopping Centre, John Lewis, Capitol Shopping Centre and the NCP car parks at Adam Street, Dumfries Place and Greyfriars Road. There's also parking at Sophia Gardens and Cardiff Arms Park.

There are still tickets available and you can book your tickets here. Ticket prices start at £61.85. Tickets via Ticketmaster will be found on the Ticketmaster app, so download that ahead of the gig.
