Departure from Nottingham Forest as boss faces 'must-win game' at City Ground

Forest exit

Winger Albert Adomah has left Nottingham Forest by mutual consent.

The 32-year-old made the move to the City Ground last summer, having been released by Aston Villa, but struggled to hold down a place in the first-team.

He was largely restricted to a substitutes’ role last season, before joining Cardiff City on loan in January, and has not been part of the picture this campaign.

Nineteen of his 27 appearances in the Garibaldi came from off the bench and he scored three goals, before heading to the Bluebirds.

Lamouchi responds

Head coach Sabri Lamouchi says he can understand criticism from fans about Nottingham Forest’s style of play.

The Reds boss has come in for plenty of flak on social media, accused of being too defensive-minded amid a terrible start to the season.

His team have lost all four of their games so far, in the Carabao Cup and the Championship, and have yet to score a goal.

And Lamouchi says supporters have every right to complain.

Under pressure

Sabri Lamouchi says Saturday is a “must-win game” as he finds himself on thin ice as Nottingham Forest head coach.

But he insists he is not worried about what the future holds, ahead of facing a Bristol City side with a perfect record in the Championship so far.

The Reds, by contrast, are without a point or a goal in their opening three league games, and were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Barnsley prior to that.

It has left Lamouchi under mounting pressure, on the back of last term’s terrible collapse which saw Forest miss out on the play-offs.

Watson on departure

Midfielder Ben Watson has explained why he left Nottingham Forest this summer and joined League One Charlton Athletic.

The 35-year-old was one of the Reds’ standout performers last season as the club fell agonisingly short of securing a play-off spot.

Head coach Sabri Lamouchi referred to him as his “brains” on the pitch and had been keen for Watson to sign a new contract.

But the player says he wanted to move back down south for family reasons, and last week put pen to paper for the Addicks, after his Forest deal had expired this summer.
