Deontay Wilder wants Tyson Fury rematch ‘ASAP’

Deontay Wilder says he wants a rematch “ASAP” against Tyson Fury after their controversial draw in Los Angeles last weekend.

The American WBC heavyweight champion knocked Fury down twice, but the Brit controlled much of the fight, leaving many to claim he should have won on points.

Now Wilder wants a quick rematch, adding he would be willing to take on the former four-belt champion as soon as March or April, although promoters suggested it would not come that soon.

“I want to give Tyson Fury the rematch ASAP. There are so many opinions, so many mixed emotions surrounding the first fight,” Wilder said. “The second fight is all about proving a point. You thought the first one was something? Oh my God, I can’t wait for the second.”

Wilder, who is being targeted by Anthony Joshua’s camp, says he got “over anxious” to knock out Fury and claimed the effects of surgery on his arm contributed to his below-par performance.
