Deontay Wilder taken to hospital after being knocked out by Tyson Fury

Deontay Wilder has been taken to hospital after being knocked out by Tyson Fury.

Wilder was knocked down four times in the third, 10th and 11th rounds as he lost to Fury in their trilogy fight.

Fury was also sent to the canvas twice in the fourth round, but was able to rise both times before dominating the remainder of the fight.

Wilder struggled from the fifth round on wards as he suffered prolonged punishment at the hands of Fury.

And such was his beating, the former champion was taken to University Medical Center to be looked over.

Finally speaking after the fight after refusing to acknowledge Fury in the ring, Wilder said: “I did my best, but it wasn’t good enough tonight.

"I’m not sure what happened. I know that in training he did certain things, and I also knew that he didn’t come in at 277 pounds to be a ballet dancer. He came to lean on me, try to rough me up and he succeeded."

Deontay Wilder's trip to the hospital is only said to be precautionary.
