Deontay Wilder spotted in Yorkshire as world heavyweight champion opens restaurant

How do you think Deontay Wilder, world heavyweight champion of the world, has been spending his week?

You might be surprised to know that he was actually in God's Own Country last night, opening a restaurant...in Batley.

Nicknamed the 'Bronze Bomber' and 'Alabama Slammer', Wilder was at the grand opening of Mr T's on Bradford Road. He also visited Bradford salon Prity, according to reports.

As of May 2019, Wilder, 33, was ranked as the world's second best active heavyweight by BoxRec, and third by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board and The Ring magazine.

Shabir Pandor, Labour leader of Kirklees Council, said: "e’s a knockout! Great to meet the @WBCBoxing champ of the world, Deontay Wilder @BronzeBomber at the opening of Mr T’s in #Batley.

"DW is a big man with a big heart. His ambition matches that of the owners of yet another new enterprise in my home town."
