Deontay Wilder issues chilling promise to Tyson Fury ahead of heavyweight title rematch

Deontay Wilder has dismissed Tyson Fury’s plan to KO the heavyweight world champion in their rematch - and vowed to render the Brit unconscious.

The rivals meet again on Saturday week, 14 months after fighting to a controversial draw in Los Angeles.

On that occasion Fury was dropped twice by the champion only to beat the count each time.

He was then denied victory by the ringside judges and subsequently changed trainers in a bid to dethrone the long-reigning ruler.

Out went friend and confidant Ben Davison who was replaced by SugarHill Steward, nephew of the late, great Emanuel.

But Wilder insists he will end his rivalry with Fury in concussive fashion regardless of his cornermen.

“It's unfinished business,” he said. “I'm picking up where I left up and this time he's not getting up.

“He don't believe he beat me. If he really did he wouldn't make so many changes.

“He has pillow-esque power. Even after the fight I didn't feel anything.

“I took all his punches and walked through it. I don't respect his power. As far as power, it's not there. I don't care what trainer he brings in."

Since their first meeting, Wilder has knocked out Dominic Breazeale and Luis Ortiz while Fury stopped Tom Schwartz before labouring to victory over Otto Wallin.

And Wilder believes the pair’s first fight left a lasting effect in Fury.

“I don't think his confidence is that high because of the state I left him in,” he added.

“I gave this man a concussion. He got a lot to think about.

“This time he's not getting up. I promise you that.

“It's going to be a short night but an interesting fight. I don't get paid for overtime.

"This fight means so much to me. At this point in time, it's about me and Fury.

“I'll still be the king after this fight and then we can go from there.”
