Deontay Wilder crashes Tyson Fury vs Francesco Pianeta weigh-in ahead of potential super-fight

Deontay Wilder was an unwelcome guest at today’s Belfast weigh-in, ahead of Tyson Fury’s fight against Francesco Pianeta.

Fury faces the Italian heavyweight in just his second fight since returning to the ring after an extended period away from the boxing scene, having made light work of Sefer Seferi at Manchester Arena in June.

Should the former unified heavyweight champion defeat his counterpart on the undercard of Carl Frampton vs Luke Jackson this weekend, a super fight against Wilder in America will almost certainly take place before the end of 2018, giving Fury the chance to claim the coveted WBC title – a belt that has thus far evaded him in his undefeated career.

Before Fury weighed in at 18st 6 lbs on Friday afternoon, he – not for the first time in his career – clashed with Wilder amongst a sea of people, exchanging heated words before carrying out his duties for the day.

However, the real moment of the day came when John Fury, Tyson’s dad, decided to confront Wilder and had to be physically pulled away by trainer Ben Davison as the Alabama-born fighter took himself to the side of the stage and shouted his famous ‘Bomb Squad’ catchphrase repeatedly.

Having failed to secure a fight against Anthony Joshua, Wilder turned his attention to facing Fury and it is believed that the pair will meet in the ring to announce their clash on Saturday night after the Gypsy King’s fight.

Wilder has been absent from the ring since his hard-fought TKO win against Luis Ortiz and will be ringside to watch and commentate on Fury’s clash with Pianeta.
