Deontay Wilder claims Tyson Fury will use WWE injury as 'excuse' to avoid rematch

Deontay Wilder doesn't think he will end up having a rematch with Tyson Fury - because the Brit will fake an injury in WWE.

The heavyweight pair fought to a thrilling draw in December and had been tipped to face off in a rematch in February.

Fury's foray into WWE has led to suggestions the fight won't happen with the Brit even admitting he had his doubts.

And now Wilder has claimed his rival can now avoid a potential rematch by faking an injury in WWE, ahead of his bout with Braun Strowman at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia.

Fury suffered an ankle injury when he was attacked by Strowman in training this week.

“I’m not surprised he got into WWE. We'd been saying this a long time ago that he’s gonna try it, he’s been making excuses about the rematch," Wilder told the Sun.

“Now he’s got into the WWE, he’s gonna get ‘injured’ make up excuses and lo and behold we already hearing about he sprained his ankle."

Wilder has also called out Fury again, and suggested he could be worth over £150m if he was to win a rematch between the pair.

The American has laughed off the reported fees WWE are paying Fury, claiming the apparent £77m ($100m) deal with ESPN was also fabricated.

Wilder added: "My theory is, you say you beat me easily the first time, 10-2, that’s pretty God damn’ easy, so if you get a rematch it’s going to be easier?

“So if they ‘Give you a £78m’ ($100m) imagine you beat the king and become a champion, boy you going to be worth £155m ($200m)."
