Deontay Wilder angry with his corner for throwing in towel against Tyson Fury

Deontay Wilder was angry with his corner for failing to let him "go out on his shield" in his defeat to Tyson Fury.

Undefeated champion Wilder was dominated from the first bell until his corner threw in the towel after 1:39 in the seventh round.

Fury stole his WBC belt with Wilder visibly upset with his trainer, Jay Deas, for the decision to bring the fight to an end.

He was seen asking "why did you do that?" immediately after returning to his corner as Fury's team celebrated.

And he admitted his anger when interviewed in the ring immediately after the fight.

Wilder said: "The best man won on the night. My coach threw in the towel but I'm ready to go out on my shield.

"I had a lot of things go on coming into this fight but it is what it is.

"I just wish my corner would have let me go out on my shield, I'm a warrior. But he [Fury] did what he did and there's no excuses."

Wilder now has 30 days to decide whether to exercise his rematch clause and battle Fury again in a bid to avenge his defeat.

Speaking about how he will respond to his first ever defeat, Wilder said: “Even the greatest have lost and came back, that is just part of it.

"You just take it for what it is. I can make no excuses tonight. I had a lot of complications.

"But we’ll come back stronger next time around. This is what big-time boxing is all about, the best must fight the best.

"I appreciate all the fans that came out and supported the show, and I hope that everyone gets home safely.”

Meanwhile, Anthony Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, instantly insisted there is no need for a trilogy and called for Fury to fight his man to become undisputed king this summer.

"No need for a third let’s go straight to it in the Summer! #undisputed" Hearn tweeted.
