Denzel Dumfries agent makes bizarre transfer statement amid Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham links

Denzel Dumfries' agent - Rafaela Pimenta - has dropped a huge hint over the future of the Netherlands international by claiming that they don't want his price to increase too much to deter interest. It comes amid an impressive series of displays from the wing-back in his first few games of the World Cup so far.

The 26-year-old has already shown his prowess in both boxes, adding two assists and a goal to his nation's impressive defensive record so far and leading them to the quarter-finals. The performances will have likely caught the eye of potential suitors, with Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham all interested in a switch, as per recent reports.

The move for the Blues comes amid a shortage of options at wing-back, especially in the absence of academy graduate and England star Reece James. The youngster has often shown how important he is as an attacking outlet on the right and someone of Dumfries' profile may be an ideal second option.

Similar can be said of Spurs in their wing-back areas, with Antonio Conte insistent on making use of a back three with his tactical approach. The lack of attacking threat from the flanks will be an area that the Italian coach may look to address in the upcoming transfer windows.

And finally for the Gunners, they are all about having tactical flexibility under Mikel Arteta, with different players and profiles for certain scenarios. Takehiro Tomiyasu and Ben White are the current options at full-back, offering some solidity and attacking threat, but Dumfries could add more going forward in that area.

Amid such links over a huge move, his agent Pimenta has told told Sky Sports, via Fabrizio Romano, that an increase of value could impact any move: "I hope his value doesn’t increase — otherwise it will be difficult to transfer him."

It comes as a bizarre initial transfer hint, given that agents have often looked to increase the value of their clients before making a big move. However, given the current climate of football finances and the type of money being spent in football, that may be a huge reason for keeping it lower.
