Denver might have a shot to host 2022 NFL draft

The NFL announced today that Cleveland will the 2021 NFL draft and Kansas City will host the 2023 version. The city for the 2022 NFL draft has yet to be announced.

There’s a chance that the Broncos and the city of Denver could be among the candidates to host the 2022 draft. Denver had been a finalist to host this year’s draft but lost out to Nashville, Tenn.

“Even though we came up short, we’re proud of our bid and the hard work that went into our proposal,” Broncos president/CEO Joe Ellis said last May after Nashville was awarded the 2019 draft. “[Our bid] showcased the attractiveness of our city along with the beauty of Red Rocks and the great football fans of this region.”

Denver will not be hosting a draft in the next two years, but the Broncos remain “interested in hosting down the road,” according to The Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala. It’s unknown whether the Broncos will try to host the 2022 draft.

“We believe there’s no better place for the NFL draft than Denver,” Ellis said last May. “Alongside Visit Denver and the Denver Sports Commission, we’ll take a close look at the feedback we’ve received and do everything we can to make it happen soon.”

Las Vegas will host the 2020 draft, which will take place April 23-25.
