TEAM NEEDS

Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Quarterback

The quarterback position has been needed to be addressed for quite sometime now. While Joe Flacco has a chance to be a serviceable option this upcoming season, his best days are likely behind him. Flacco, 34, hasn’t thrown for more than 21 touchdowns since 2014, and it’s tough to envision him as the long-term solution for the Broncos.

Tight End

The Broncos have three active players at the position on the roster, but they have not shown quality TE1 traits for their own reasons. Jeff Heuerman is serviceable, but injuries have hindered his potential. Jake Butt has had a number of ACL surgeries in his career. Troy Fumagalli was their 2018 fifth round selection who has yet to see a single snap as a professional.

Linebacker

The Broncos lost Brandon Marshall to the Raiders in free agency. With Marshall gone, the team has Todd Davis and Josey Jewell penciled in as the starters. Though, they can both be fine as starters, neither really fit the mold of what coach Vic Fangio has preferred over the recent years when he was the defensive coordinator with the Bears. Fangio could look to find his ‘athletic’ linebacker, stylistically similar to Roquan Smith.

Interior Offensive Line

The Broncos could use an interior offensive lineman to help replace departed center Matt Paradis. Ron Leary is coming off an Achilles injury, Connor McGovern is slotted as the starting center when he is actually better at right guard.
