Denny Hamlin grabs NASCAR road-course victory at Watkins Glen

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. _ Denny Hamlin won the first road-course race of his career Sunday, taking the Cheez-It 355 At The Glen Sprint Cup race at Watkins Glen International.

Hamlin finished ahead of Joey Logano, who took advantage of a Brad Keselowski-induced spinout by Martin Truex Jr. on the final corner of the race. Truex had been on Hamlin's tail for the final four laps of the race until Keselowski bumped his rear, giving Hamlin a buffer and allowing Logano to move into the second spot.

Keselowski, who apologized to Truex after the race, was third. Road-course specialist AJ Allmendinger was fourth after he bumped Kyle Larson out of the way near the finish line. Tony Stewart, who won the season's other road-course race at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway, was fifth.

Jimmie Johnson was involved in a wreck on Lap 52 and finished 40th, or last.

Hamlin, winner of the Daytona 500 in February, started at the front of the field on a restart after a multi-car accident brought out the red flag with four laps remaining. Hamlin had taken the lead three laps earlier when Keselowski and Kyle Busch drove too hard and went wide into Turn 1 on a restart.
