Dennis Wise helps Everton defender seal Italy move after summer release

Former Everton defender Matthew Foulds has joined Serie C side Como after his summer release.

Foulds, 22, arrived at Everton in 2016 under Roberto Martinez after making two senior appearances for boyhood club Bury.

He failed to feature for the first-team during his spell at Goodison Park but lifted two Premier League 2 titles with David Unsworth.

The defender confirmed he had penned terms with Italian outfit Como on Wednesday after a period as a free agent, thanking former Chelsea midfielder Dennis Wise, who is reportedly working with the club.

"Delighted to have signed for Como," he said. "Such a good opportunity to come out and play in Italy.

"Looking forward to this next stage in my career and hopefully we can get this club back to Serie A. "Thanks to everyone who made this happen, my agents....and then also Dennis Wise for making me feel so welcome out here.

"Looking forward to working with you and the rest of the lads."

Wise brought QPR midfielder Amrit Bansal-McNulty to Como on a season-long loan deal in September with fellow QPR youngster Lewis Walker - son of ex-England international Des - also on trial.
