Dennis Quaid files to stop child support payments

Dennis Quaid wants to stop paying child support

Dennis Quaid has filed a petition to stop paying child support to his ex-wife.

The 72-year-old actor had been handing over $13,750 a month to Kimberly Buffington but now their 18-year-old twins Thomas and Zoe have graduated from high school, he wants the payments to stop.

In documents obtained by People magazine, the Substance actor cited the terms of their 2018 divorce agreement, which noted payments may end "when a child completes 12th grade (if still under 19 and a full-time high school student) or reaches the other enumerated endpoints, whichever occurs first" and highlighted that the twins are set to graduate in May and June this year.

The terms of the divorce show Dennis was required to pay an additional sum to Kimberly - his third wife, who he married in 2004 - if he made more than $1,314,000 in a year, and he requested the potential bonus amount determined after his annual income is evaluated be "prorated to each child's graduation date rather than using Dennis' full-year 2026 income."

The Sovereign actor married fourth wife Laura Savoie, who is 39 years his junior, in 2020, a year after they met while networking at a business event, and he recently gushed that he has never had a relationship like the one he has with his current spouse.

He told Fox News Digital: "Every day is paradise with her. It really is.

"It's the closest relationship I've ever had with anybody. Every day is paradise.

"What can I tell you? I don't know why God had waited so long to bring her, for her to come along, but [I'm] really glad he brought her into my life, or I walked into hers."

Dennis - who also has son Jack, 33, with second wife Meg Ryan - previously insisted he isn't bothered about the age gap between himself and 33-year-old Laura.

He told The Guardian: "I didn't go out looking for an age gap or someone really younger than me. You have no control over who you fall in love with. I don't fall in love easy."

Dennis was married to P.J. Soles from 1978 to 1983, actress Meg from 1991 to 2001, and Kimberly from 2004 until 2018.
