Dennis Hogan hellbent on becoming World Champion against Jermall Charlo

Irishman Dennis Hogan is hellbent on becoming World Champion next week, following the injustice of his loss to Jaime Munguia in April.

The Kildare native, 34, moves up to middleweight to face undefeated WBC champ Jermall Charlo (29-0-0) at the Barclays Center on December 7th.

And he is planning to make history by taking the title back to Ireland for a defence in Dublin's 3 Arena should he emerge victorious.

Speaking exclusively with Irish Mirror, Hogan said: "I felt good about the way I performed in my last fight, but it inspired me to train harder and improve on the little things.

"I've spent the majority of the year improving myself, I've allowed myself to gain an extra kilo of muscle, and the change of weight means I don't have to train out as much water."

Hogan claims to have been offered a rematch against Munguia in the corner following their controversial fight, but when talks stalled on the WBO Super Welterweight champion's end, he accepted a bout with the American instead.

Charlo has promised to knock out the Irishman, who he has dubbed 'number 30', but Hogan believes he will prove too elusive for his unbeaten counterpart.

"My coach has a gameplan which has me very excited for this fight." He claimed. "Everything we want to capitalise on is there when you watch this guy.

"We've developed a good plan, if you watch the Munguia fight we nullified him very well and then in his next fight he walked through the number ten ranked opponent.

"Without getting too much into my game plan, it's about distance, you've got to have the right angles and movement, I'll be in the zone and let the work I've done the last 10-12 weeks unfold and that will be enough to get the win.

"There were opportunities to finish last time, which we didn't seize and first and foremost we need to win every round.

"That's all there and I'll let whatever will be, be and I believe I will be the champion come the end of the night."
