Republican and brothel owner Dennis Hof who died last week has won a seat in Nevada’s Assembly District in the midterm elections.
The brothel owner and pimp, defeated Democrat Lesia Romanov in the largely Republican District that covers Pahrump, his hometown.
Thousands of people in his hometown had vowed to vote for Mr Hof in the election leading his campaign manager to compare him to Moses.
Mr Hof’s name appeared on the ballot because it was too late to change the ones printed and sent out in the post before election day.
Under state laws, county officials will nominate another Republican to fill Mr Hof’s seat.
Mr Hof died on October 16 aged 72. He was found dead at one of his properties in Cystal Nevada afdter a weekend of celebrating his birthday, according to the Nye County Sheriff’s office.
He ran multiple brothels and owned a strip club.
During Mr Trump’s presidency, Mr Hof had a political rise.
In June, earlier this year, he said: “This really is the Trump movement. People will set aside for a moment their moral beliefs, their religious belief, to get somebody who is honest in office.”
Mr Hof had hosted a campaign rally in Pahrump, the night before he was found dead, the New York Times reported.
His campaign manager, Chuck Muth, said he appeared to have died in his sleep.
After Mr Hof won the June nominating contest for a state Assembly seat, some evangelicals in his Republican-leaning district said they had voted for him because they believed he would clean up politics and not be beholden to special-interest groups and their money.
