Dennis Gyamfi next on Rangers' transfer hitlist as Steven Gerrard plots double Leicester raid

Rangers are plotting another raid on Leicester City after joining the race to sign highly-rated youngster Dennis Gyamfi.

Gers snapped up left-back Calvin Bassey from the Foxes on a development fee – and are lining up a similar move for his former teammate, who plays on the other side of the defence at right back.

Gyamfi is out of contract on June 30 but a host of big hitters are chasing the 18-year-old right-back including Arsenal, Manchester United and Feyenoord.

Rangers gaffer Steven Gerrard has been tracking the youngster for 18 months – and made an unsuccessful bid to sign the kid last summer

He’s looking to go back in again having already persuaded Bassey to snub several English sides in favour of a move to Scotland.

Gyamfi has yet to make a top team appearance for Leicester but has regularly featured for Steve Beaglehole’s Under-23s in the Premier League 2 alongside Bassey.

The youngster is looking for first team football though with his path to the Foxes starting XI blocked by Ricardo Pereira, James Justin and Daniel Amartey.

Gers are hoping the Bassey deal will help persuade the defender to join his pal at Ibrox, as the pair also made the move to the Midlands after playing together in London.

Gerrard is in the market for defensive cover with James Tavernier the only recognised right back at the club following the departure of Jon Flanagan and Gyamfi – who qualifies to play for Ghana and Holland – fits the bill.
