Denmark manager makes Manchester United transfer claim after Christian Eriksen's Tottenham exit

Denmark manager Age Hareide has claimed that Manchester United were keen on signing Christian Eriksen from Tottenham in the January transfer window.

The midfielder brought an end to his spell in north London after leaving Jose Mourinho's side to move to Serie A outfit Inter Milan, ahead of the expiry of his Tottenham contract at the end of the season.

Prior to the move, speculation was rife regarding the future of the Denmark international and United were attributed with an interest in his services previously.

However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer moved to complete the signing of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon in the January window, but Hareide has claimed he wasn't the only midfielder being targeted.

“There were clubs in England that were interested in him. Manchester United were interested in Christian Eriksen. I know that Ole Gunnar [Solskjaer] was," he said, as quoted by BT.

“There was talk of Real Madrid and in part Barcelona … but mostly Real Madrid. But along the way, Inter and [Antonio] Conte showed their interest. And they showed real interest in Christian, and that was the most important thing,”

Since moving to Italy, Eriksen has appeared in five matches across all competitions but is yet to register a goal or an assist for his new side.
