Denmark extends suspension of AstraZeneca vaccine rollout by three weeks

Denmark has extended its AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine suspension for three more weeks.

Ministers paused the use of the UK firm's jab as a "precautionary measure" on 11 March after reports that a 60-year-old woman had been vaccinated and died from blood clots a week later.

The death of a second Danish person in similar circumstances was reported shortly afterwards.

Health authorities said they have no evidence that the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine was responsible for either death.

The news comes a week after the European Union's drug regulator ruled the jab was safe following the temporary suspension of usage in countries including Germany, France and Spain.

The rollout is still suspended in Norway and Sweden.
