Christian Eriksen will remain a Tottenham player over the coming months following the closure of the European transfer window.
The Dane's future dominated talk in north London all summer following rumours that Real Madrid would launch a move to lure the talented player to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Los Blancos' reported interest never materialised as they decided to look elsewhere and there was then whispers that city rivals Atletico could launch a late move.
The European deadline then came and went with Eriksen remaining in north London despite it looking like he would definitely leave a few months earlier.
Speculation over the player will continue over the coming months given that his contract expires at the end of the 2019/20 season, thus meaning that he will be able to leave Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for absolutely nothing if his situations remains the same.
Eriksen's importance to Spurs has been there for all to see in the opening weeks of the campaign and Denmark assistant coach Jon Dahl Tomasson believes that his fellow countryman should remain in the capital for the foreseeable future.
"It’s been written whether or not Christian should change the club. And he shouldn’t," he told Danish publication BT. "He is such a balanced and skilled player, so they will always benefit from him. He must play at Tottenham.
"I’m certainly not nervous because you have to assume that Tottenham will play with their best players.
"I know the coach and Christian have a good relationship.
"Tottenham is an excellent club for Christian and a huge club in England."
