Denise Welch stuns social media with age-defying swimsuit photo while on holiday in Malta

Denise Welch has set social media alight with a picture of her posing in a swimsuit of the first day of her holiday in Malta.

The Geordie actress has been an almost permanent fixture on our screen over the past few months as a panellist on Loose Women, even when the ITV show went off air due to the coroavirus pandemic, only to be replaced with old episodes.

Denise has sparked some controversy with her thoughts on Boris Johnson and the coronavirus pandemic, but is now enjoying a break away from TV cameras in Malta.

But she's not stepped away from the lens completely as she happily posed up a storm poolside for a snap in a plunging swimsuit.

She captioned the picture: "At last!! Sun on me bones!! Sorry peeps it’s the old birds in bikinis time. Be prepared! Don’t live in fear of anything! Grab every opportunity..."

A defiant Denise, 62, signed the caption off with the message: "Age is just a number," and her followers say she's definitely proving that after being blown away by how good she looked.

Denise's Loose Women colleagues were quick to react with Saira Khan commenting: "Sexy mama! You look insane!" and Christine Lampard reacted by posting a trio of flame emojis.

Denise's acting pal Tamzin Outhwaite responded: "Fit as a butchers," and a fan posted: "Absolutely gorgeous! love the swimming costume it looks amazing on you"

The weather looks scorching where Denise is in Malta, so it's too be hoped she doesn't follow her mum's old sunbathing ritual when she used to soak up the rays on Tynemouth Beach.

Recalling the not to be recommended ritual on Loose Women this week, Denise revealed: "My mum used to have one of those kitchen timer clocks and it would be 30 minutes; her and her friends June and Jackie and they'd lie there, slathered in olive oil with the TIN FOIL!... and then the timer would go and then they'd turn over for another 30 minutes! No protection!"
