Denise Welch shows support to son Matty Healy after Taylor Swift split

Denise Welch has took to Twitter to support her son Matty Healy, after the singer-songwriters reported romance with Taylor Swift fell apart at the seams. The Loose Women star, whose shared son with Tim Healy, took to her official social media page to show support for Matty's band The 1975 by retweeting an upcoming live-stream.

The pop-rock band are set to take to the stage in the Netherlands this weekend at Best Kept Secret, in an appearance just days after the news broke that Matty and Taylor's relationship had come to an end. The couple were previously pictured together, before confirming their romance just weeks ago.

Now, the couple are believed to have gone their separate ways due to compatibility issues. And while Matty was pictured boozing on stage just hours after the split revelation, mum Denise remained silent.

While Denise is yet to comment publicly on her son's heartache, The Mirror reports that it didn't take her long to show support for Matty and his musical endeavours, with the actress and TV personality retweeting a message about Matty's band and their livestream to her 556,700 followers in a touch of motherly support.

The Netherlands performance this weekend also comes after emotional Healy was spotted performing a song about unrequited love in Vienna as his band closed a show. It's the first time that The 1975 have ended their set with a tragic love song.

Speaking to BBC Radio 1 about the song previously, Matty said its about the times he shared with a girl. He said: "I loved her but she didn't feel the same way. I don't even think she knew I loved her.

"As she and I became close friends, we had traditions. We'd somehow always coincidentally be out at exactly 1:02AM, so that was our thing. Now whenever I'm awake at 1:02AM, I think of her and I let her go."

The poignant scheduling of the song in the setlist may well have been directed towards Taylor, after the pair parted ways through incompatibility. A source told ET Online: "Taylor and Matty broke up. They are both extremely busy and realised they're not really compatible with each other.

"Taylor's friends want what's best for her and aren't shocked that their relationship fizzled out since she recently got out of a long-term relationship."

Reported rumours of a romance between the two A-list stars emerged shortly after Taylor broke off her long term relationship with actor Joe Alwyn. The couple were dating for six years before breaking up in February.
