Denise Welch has announced that she will be leaving Loose Women after 25 years, as she focuses on pursuing her “first love”.
The broadcaster and actor, 68, made her debut on the ITV chat show in 2000, a year after it launched. She left the show in 2013 amid creative clashes with the show’s producers, but returned in 2018.
In an Instagram post on Thursday (13 August), Welch said that she has had a “wonderful time”, but it is now time to focus on her acting career. “I think it’s the thing I’m best at.”
“ I'm very marmite, but I cherish all the comments, good or bad, that I've had over the years. And I just hope you wish me well for this new exciting chapter in my life.”
