Denise Welch praises Gosforth travel agent after being caught up in coronavirus travel chaos

Denise Welch has praised a travel agent in Gosforth after revealing she was caught up in coronavirus-prompted travel chaos last week.

Geordie actress Denise, who has been accused of being a "corona denier" by some critics, told her fellow Loose Women panellists on Wednesday's show, filmed without a studio audience, she was in Tenerife when son Matty, lead singer of The 1975, told her she needed to get home as Jet2 and Easyjet started to cancel flights.

Revealing that she and husband Lincoln ended up managing to get a British Airways flight home, Denise gave a shout out to Gosforth agents Norseman Travel for their helping in sorting everything out and keeping her in the loop with coronavirus-related developments while she was away.

While Denise now lives in Cheshire, she said she still "always uses Norseman," saying they were amazing.

The 61-year-old's Loose Women appearance comes days after she took to Instagram to hit back at claims she was belittling coronavirus with some of her posts on the pandemic.

She told her many followers: "I've been accused of being a corona denier.

"I'm actually quite a intelligent person and I do know the severity of the situation.

"I suffer from severe anxiety and depression episodes and we know if we go down with an episode we're no good to anybody. So if one of our family gets poorly and then we get poorly we're no good."

"So all I'm trying to do is say we know what's going but I'm trying to maintain a sense of humour and community."
