Denise Welch has told fans her dad Vin is 'fighting back' after undergoing three major operations at a Newcastle hospital.
Geordie actress Denise first broke the news that her dad was in hospital on Loose Women, when she tearfully revealed that her dad, who suffered a fall at his County Durham home in March, was in hospital, explaining: "My dad actually is in hospital in Newcastle and I just want to say, love you dad.
"It’s just been really, really tough but all of these things have added to the fact that he can’t understand."
Last week current Hollyoaks star Denise, famous for previously appearing in the likes of Coronation Street and Soldier Soldier, updated her Instagram followers on Vin's condition saying he was "getting stronger every day" and was being well looked after.
She returned to home turf this weekend to see her dad and uploaded a picture of a short video of them enjoying some Tyneside sunshine.
Giving another update on how her dad was doing, paying tribute to his fighting spirit and revealing what he's been through in recent months, she wrote: "And the best boomerang ever award goes to…….my dad!!!!
"10 weeks in hospital, 3 major operations at 84!! But here’s proof his dancing days are not yet over!!
"He’s fought back and is soon to go to the next rehab stage for his mobility. Still some way to go before home but we’ll get there."
Denise's fans and celebrity mates were quick to respond to the post, with her former Loose Women co-star Andrea McLean writing: "Go on Vin!" and her new on-screen daughter, Hollyoaks actress Nikki Sanderson responding: "Sending lots of love"
County Durham born Hollyoaks star Ross Adams replied: "Awww great stuff. Go Vin!"
Denise then posted in the comments section of the post herself to tell everyone: "Overwhelmed by the lovely comments for dad. Can’t wait to show him tmrw"
