Denise Welch last minute stand-in on Loose Women due to Gloria Hunniford's social distancing

Denise Welch was called into film Loose Women at the last minute after one of her fellow panellists decide to practice social distancing.

The Geordie actress took her seat on the ITV show alongside Andrea McLean, Janet Street Porter and Brenda Edwards but wasn't meant to be there.

Host Andrea joked "we had to parachute Denise in," before explaining the reason for Denise being a last minute stand-in was the fact that Gloria Hunniford, was meant to be on the show, was social distancing.

Gloria, 79, appeared on Loose Women via a video call and told the panel doing social distancing wasn't her at all, before adding that her sons had asked her if she still wanted them to come down to see her on Mother's Day.

She said they were planning on spending Sunday as a family but there would be "no hugging or kissing."

Coronvirus was once again a big talking point on Loose Women with Denise revealing she'd had her own travel chaos after being on holiday in Tenerife last week, just as airlines like Jet2 and Easyjey were cancelling flights.

There's been a big change on Loose Women this week, with the show filming without a studio audience after the show's absence last week due to coverage of the Cheltenham Festival.
