Denise Welch having therapy over bad decisions she made when children were small

Denise Welch has revealed she is having therapy to tackle her regret at decisions she made when children were younger.

Denise, who has sons Matty and Louis with ex-husband and fellow actor Tim Healy, has made some candid admissions in her new tell-all book 'The Unwelcome Visitor' which has stayed in the top 3 of the Times bestsellers list for a second week.

And now, speaking to The Mirror, the 62-year-old said she wished she could be the person she is now when her eldest child, The 1975 lead singer Matty, was little.

She said: "I am having therapy to try to sort out my issues with regret about some of the decisions I made when the children were small.

"It was less the case for Louis, who was brought up in a sober household from the age of 11.

"I am super proud of them and so grateful for their support."

Earlier this week, former Coronation Street Denise spoke about her battle with post-natal depression after Matt, now 31, was born and revealed he has written abut about her struggle.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, she said: "The song is called 'She Lays Down' because when my son was first born, I couldn't...I couldn't love my child.

"I think a lot of people don't understand is that depression is not persistent sadness. Sadness is an emotion which comes as a result of circumstances. When my mum died, I was sad, I was bereft, I was grief-stricken. All of the emotions you are supposed to have.

"But depression depresses every single emotion, so you feel nothing. You can't feel any single emotion."
