Denise Welch breaks down in tears live on Loose Women after revealing her dad is in hospital

Denise Welch became tearful on Loose Women as she revealed her dad is currently "really poorly" in hospital.

The 62-year-old star sat on the panel alongside Kaye Adams, Jane Moore and Judi Love as they discussed lockdown restrictions lifting and elderly people struggling with technology.

Kaye referenced a particular photo of an older man sat in a pub recently and reportedly unable to order a drink because he didn't know how to order one using an app.

During the conversation on Thursday, Denise said: "Now my dad, who has really struggled in lockdown like many, many people, he’s such a social person, and has been really, really poorly, and as his health has declined over this last year.

"He has really struggled with not being able to have people round to the house to do certain things as regards banking and things like that," she continued.

Breaking down in tears, Denise then said: "My dad actually is in hospital in Newcastle and I just want to say, love you dad."

The former Coronation Street star then apologised to her co-hosts as she wiped her eyes dry.

"It’s just been really, really tough but all of these things have added to the fact that he can’t understand," she then added.

"I just can’t keep up with it, I can’t bear it anymore."

The Loose Women panel also spoke about the confusion surrounding the travel traffic light system and whether or not it's ok to go on holiday this year.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
