Denise Van Outen 'ready' for new romance five months after dumping Eddie Boxshall

Denise Van Outen has revealed she is 'ready' for romance following her devastating split from Eddie Boxshall in January.

The pair were an item for eight years until Denise, 49, called it quits after finding evidence of cheating on his phone and he admitted to sending 20 sex text messages behind her back.

In an excerpt from her new book, 'A bit of me: From Basildon to Broadway' Denise elaborates on the alleged infidelity: "Her name was Tracy and she had apparently spoken to Eddie over FaceTime and text for a long period — often from our home and sometimes from my flat in Hampstead, which she seemed to think was his."

Whilst the multi-talented star isn't in any rush to find new love, she is looking forward to getting out with her friends as a singleton again and seeing where life takes her.

"I do feel ready now," she revealed in an interview with the Sun. "I feel like I'm just coming out the other side and I wouldn't rule out romance. I'm just taking my time and then we'll see. I'm not putting any pressure on myself.

"What's really nice is when you are single, you reconnect with all your friends, and you go out more and I've been having a proper laugh.

"I've also got loads of festivals this summer that I'm DJ'ing at because I decided to get back into doing my music. I wanted to get back out there with my mates, as I just feel like I want to enjoy this summer, see all my friends and have a good time."

Celebrity Gogglebox star Denise, meanwhile, said she 'struggled to breathe' after splitting with Eddie, also 49.

Speaking to pal Ferne Cotton on her Happy Place podcast she said: "I couldn't breathe, I phoned one of my friends one night and I felt like someone was sitting on my chest, literally could not breathe, you get that knot in your stomach, and it wont go, and you're like when will this feeling leave me?"

Denise admitted on the Happy Place podcast she is now undergoing therapy as a result of the split (Fearne Cotton's Happy Place)

For the first time in her life she's sought therapy, however, due to being 'literally flawed' by the ending of the relationship.

Describing herself as a 'fixer' often at her own detriment, she acknowledged that that working from a young age had given her drive. But instead of breaking down she often distracted herself by throwing herself into new skills.

Denise admitted to Ferne: "I'm not fully healed. I'm getting there.

"I'm enjoying therapy. I'm learning so much about myself. That I hadn't even looked at myself properly."
