Denise van Outen 'cried a lot' as she struggled with 'hard' Eddie Boxshall split

Denise van Outen cried a lot when she split from Eddie Boxshall - but is doing better now.

The pair decided to go their separate ways last year, amid rumours that fiancé Eddie had been messaging other women. Both of them have since moved on from their romance, but Denise will document the split in her new biography.

Whilst she insists she is doing good now, she admits it was very tough in the early days, as she tried to cope with what he had allegedly done. Explaining how hard she found it, Denise admits it was raw to re-write her book so soon after their split.

Speaking on The One Show about the pair's split, she said: "It's been hard, but I'm in a really good place at the moment.

"I've done a lot of my crying at home and I've got through it. I've only put in the book all the facts that happened which led to the breakdown of the relationship. But things are good."

Following the pair's split, Denise made the tough decision to rewrite the ending of her biography, pulling it from sale moments before it was due to come out, as she wanted to be completely honest with her fans.

"I think it was the toughest thing for me [to rewrite the end]. The book is very upbeat and I've had some incredible work experiences, and I cover a lot of the 90s - all the hedonistic days, it's all in there," she explained.

"The book was supposed to come out last November and at that time, when it was about to come out, I found out everything that had been going on, and I had to make a decision, and we had to pull the book. It's unheard of. All of the books that had been written, I had to sit down and do a re-write. And at that time - can you imagine how raw it was? For it to be so public."

Whilst Denise accepts there are "highs and lows" in her job, she felt she needed to address the split because people had seen her and Eddie together on Celebrity Gogglebox and had become invested in their romance.

She told hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas: "There have been highs and lows in this business and I've taken it all. You have to accept the good with the bad, I accepted I couldn't write a biography without being really honest.

"Because we'd shared the sofa together on television and people got to know us as a couple, it felt fitting."
