Denise Van Outen admits it took two people to help her get into her Masked Singer outfit

Mirrors, mirrors on the mask, who’s the foxiest you might ask?

That’s an easy question for fans of The Masked Singer who saw Denise Van Outen lift off the flashy headgear at the weekend.

Emerging from the disco fox outfit has certainly been a weight off for Den, who needed two people to help her get into it.

She tells me: “It’s really heavy. I’d wiggle into it, they’d zip me into it – then they had to polish it.”

But singing anonymously from inside the outfit has definitely boosted the former West End star’s confidence.

It has paved the way for string of cabaret shows from next month and a new album.

Den, 45, says she has put her heart into co-writing and performing the “Michael Buble-ish” tunes.

Clearly it’s worked as two rivals record labels are locked in a bidding war for the album.

She says: “It’s that thing as woman and a mum, you step back and the years roll by and then you feel too nervous to get back out there. "

She added: "This was a nice way to see how I would feel, and I loved it. My confidence has improved loads.”

Den would even dust off her costume if the Daily Mirror needs her to campaign to keep the fox hunting ban.

The Mirror fox followed then PM Theresa May in her 2017 election campaign.

But hounding Boris Johnson in her outfit may be a little too much for Den. “Can you imagine?” she laughs.

The Masked Singer final, ITV, Saturday, 7pm.
