Denis Suarez ‘returns home’ as former Arsenal loanee completes transfer from Barcelona to Celta Vigo

Former Arsenal loanee Denis Suarez has joined Celta Vigo from Barcelona as summer sales continue at Camp Nou.

The winger, who spent the second half of last season in north London, has finally departed in a permanent deal after several spells away from the Catalan club on loan in recent seasons.

"FC Barcelona and Celta Vigo have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Denis Suarez," Barca said on their website on Sunday night. "The Galician team will pay FC Barcelona €12.9m euros plus €3.1m in add-ons.

And they added: "FC Barcelona would like to thank Denis Suárez for his commitment and dedication, and wishes him every success in the future."

Suarez started his career at Celta, but only appeared for the club's youth team before joining Manchester City in 2011.

"I return home," the 25-year-old said on Twitter in a post featuring a photo of him playing for Celta as a youngster.

The Galician club said Suarez will be presented to fans in the coming days and revealed he will wear the number 6 shirt at Balaidos.

Barca, meanwhile, have now sold Jasper Cillessen, Andre Gomes, Marc Cardona and Suarez in the past few days, raising over €75m, while Thomas Vermaelen, Kevin-Prince Boateng and Jeison Murillo are out of contract and also leave the Catalan club on Monday.
