Manchester United great Denis Irwin is well qualified to name the Reds' most consistent player of the Premier League era.
The Irish defender earned legendary status at Old Trafford after spending 12 trophy-laden years at United and he was a stalwart at the back for Sir Alex Ferguson - it's telling he's a hugely popular figure among supporters almost two decades on from retirement.
Consequently, If anyone has the credentials to assess United's players across the Premier League era, it's certainly Irwin.
While there are multiple big names that would have been in contention, though, Irwin has named Nemanja Vidic as the club's most consistent player.
"Probably the most consistent players are defenders. I've got to say that. Strikers, you know, go on unbelievable streaks but sometimes you've got to be super sharp to be a striker," Irwin told United's in-house media.
"So I'd probably pick a defender. Vidic was one of my favourite players. I think he was a great partner for Rio [Ferdinand]. He was just an out-and-out defender but I shouldn't really say that because he could play football as well.

“He always came across as an out-and-out defender anyway and one no centre-forward would want to come up against. He very rarely made mistakes, was aggressive and scored a few important goals for us. I would say Vidic, on that front.”
