LUCKNOW: The city reported eight more dengue cases on Monday, taking the count to 526 since January and 446 since September.
The cases were reported from Aliganj, Indiranagar, NK Road, Husainganj, Turiyaganj and Kanpur Road. Four men and four women were diagnosed with the vectorborne disease. While two patients had to be admitted to Balrampur Hospital, others are recuperating at home.
Larvae of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, carrier of dengue virus, were found in 35 houses after 2,110 houses were scanned by health department teams in its source reduction and anti-larvae drive. Amberganj, Rajajipuram, Malviyanagar, Takrohi, Triveninagar, Faizullaganj, Bashirat Ganj and Ismailganj areas were surveyed for mosquito breeding during the drive.
“Water accumulated in abandoned utensils and tanks, desert coolers and flower pots were providing breeding haven for the dengue vector,” said officials.
