Demons' Langdon blasts Blues target Lyon

Melbourne dasher Ed Langdon has delivered a scathing assessment of his former AFL coach Ross Lyon, who is favoured to replace David Teague at Carlton.

After the Demons booked their place in a preliminary final with a commanding 33-point victory over Brisbane, Langdon heaped praise on his current boss - Simon Goodwin.

But in talking up Goodwin's coaching credentials, the wingman blasted how Lyon treated players during his time at Fremantle.

Lyon coached the Dockers from 2012 and 2019, with Langdon playing under him from 2015, before moving to the Demons ahead of last season.

"'Goody' really backs me in to play my role, which I really appreciate and it's a big reason why I came to the club," Langdon told AFL Nation.

"I've come from five years of the Ross Lyon method, so it's absolutely a nice change to have someone as cool, calm and collected as Goody.

"I don't think I've heard him raise his voice since I've been at the club.

"Coming over from Freo, when if you don't look Ross in the eye at a meeting and he starts yelling at you, so it's been a nice change."

Lyon is expected to be confirmed as Carlton's new coach as soon as this week with Blues president Luke Sayers revealing he had already had a lengthy conversation with the former St Kilda and Fremantle mentor.

Teague was officially sacked by Carlton on Thursday after Sayers announced the findings of the Blues' review into their football department.

Lyon coached the Saints to two losing grand finals and one drawn decider during his five seasons at the club.

He then took Fremantle to their one and only grand final in 2013, with the Dockers losing to Hawthorn.
