Lucknow(Uttar Pradesh): Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav celebrated the fifth birthday of a child named 'Khanjachi', born on the day of demonetisation, at the party headquarters on Tuesday.

During a press conference held at the party's state office, Akhilesh greeted 'Khanjachi' with sweets and presented an envelope and cycle as an omen. Later, other party leaders and workers presented notes and other gifts to the child. The child's mother was also present on this occasion.
During the demonetisation drive carried out by the Narendra Modi government at the Centre in the year 2016, a woman gave birth to a child in the Rasulabad area of Kanpur Dehat district to exchange notes in a bank, whose name was given by Akhilesh as 'Khanjachi'. Since then every year Akhilesh has been celebrating the birthday of the child.(UNI)
