Demolition at a former Saltcoats hostel is underway again after a nest of seagulls put the brakes on works last week.
Workers at the Green Street site were forced to halt the project, which is to make way for new flats, after discovering the nest in the roof of the building.
All species of gull are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 which makes it illegal to intentionally or recklessly injure or kill any gull or damage or destroy an active nest or its contents in Scotland.
Quick-thinking workmen called the SSPCA for advice.
Later, the birds were safely relocated to the Hessilhead Wildlife Rescue Centre in Beith on Monday, June 10.
Frank Sweeney of Cunninghame Housing Association told Ayrshire Live: "Work has restarted and we expect the rest of the works to finish on Monday, July 5.
"The birds have been relocated to Hessilhead where they'll be reared and released back into their natural habitat on the Ayrshire coast."
Kevin Newell, who works in partnership with Hessilhead, told Ayrshire Live: "The gulls are doing really well. We cherry-picked three gulls in total off of the roof and have since put them in with seven other birds living at the centre.
"This is the best thing for them just now as they like to be in with their own kind. No eggs were found on the roof."
The former Green Street hostel is being torn down to make way for 24 new flats for disabled and non-disabled Cunninghame Housing Association tenants.
