Demolition bid lodged for Pretoria Working Mens Club to make way for homes

Plans to demolish a social club to make way for homes has been lodged with Durham County Council.

In recent weeks, plans were lodged for the Pretoria Working Mens Club, in Corbridge Road, Medomsley, Consett.

If approved, bulldozers will move in with the site being transformed into two homes with attached private garages.

Planned works also include retaining an existing highway crossing to the site and constructing another to serve the second home.

The plans follow a similar application to build a single home on the site which was approved in July.

A consultation is open on the new proposals until Tuesday, August 20 and comments can be made in writing or on the council's website.
