Following President Joe Biden's decision to exit the 2024 presidential race, there has been a significant increase in advertising spending from both Republicans and Democrats. While the battleground airwaves have seen a balanced contest between the two parties, Democrats have held a slight edge by investing nearly $100 million in digital advertising, with a focus on online fundraising.
Republicans have taken the lead in battleground states, with approximately $241.4 million spent compared to Democrats' $235.7 million across the seven most competitive states from July 22 to the present day. The key battleground states being targeted by both parties include Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, Wisconsin, Arizona, North Carolina, and Nevada, with Pennsylvania standing out as the state with the highest ad spending.
Looking ahead, Democrats are projected to maintain their advertising advantage in the upcoming months. Between September 3 and Election Day, Democrats have secured $323.1 million in ad time bookings, while Republicans have booked approximately $136.1 million.
Both parties are strategically focusing their advertising efforts on the most competitive states, recognizing the importance of these key battlegrounds in shaping the outcome of the 2024 presidential race. With millions of dollars being poured into digital advertising and online fundraising, the battle for voter attention and support is intensifying as the election draws closer.
