Democrat Party leader Jurin Laksanavisit said on Monday that there was no sign of changes to the previously agreed cabinet ministers' positions for his party.

He made his remark before attending a meeting of the party's strategic committee. Confusion over the number and type of cabinet posts slated for the Democrats arose on Sunday when an executive of the Palang Pracharath Party said the allocation had not been settled.

"The Democrat Party has not received any sign of changes to the ministries agreed before the vote for the House Speaker," Mr Jurin said.

"The leader of the Palang Pracharath Party posted that the allocation of cabinet ministers had not been concluded but I do not know where this information came from...there is no change to what was agreed," he said.

He said he did not think the delay in the formation of the new government resulted from ongoing negotiations.

Mr Jurin said that his party would discuss the selection of its ministers after Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha receives a royal command to become the new prime minister.

He said that the new prime minister has the right to consider the cabinet line-up before it is submitted for royal approval, but customarily would not change it.
