Democratic super PAC cancels Minnesota 3rd District reservations

House Majority PAC, a super PAC that works to elect Democrats to the House, has cancelled its TV reservations in Minnesota's 3rd District.

Democrats had touted the suburban district, held by four-term GOP Rep. Erik Paulsen, as one that Donald Trump's candidacy could put in play. A Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee poll from Sept. 12 gave Democratic state Sen. Terri Bonoff a 40-38 edge over Paulsen.

But recent GOP polling gave Paulsen a comfortable margin. He has a significant cash-on-hand advantage over Bonoff, ending the pre-primary reporting period on July 20 with $3.2 million in the bank compared to Bonoff's $571,000.

HMP reserved $574,000 for the district in mid-July. Time can still be rebooked if the race begins to look more favorable for Democrats.

HMP has reduced its reservations in the state's competitive 2nd District _ but for the opposite reason. Democrats are feeling confident about Democrat Angie Craig's chances against Republican Jason Lewis in this tossup seat.

No adjustments have been made to the super PAC's reservations in the 8th District, where Republicans are hoping to knock off Democratic Rep. Rick Nolan.
