Demi Sims embraces vitiligo in inspiring shoot as she ditches heavy body foundation

Demi Sims has opened up about finally learning to embrace her skin condition, vitiligo.

The reality TV star, 26, says the condition, which causes pale patches to develop on the skin, is something she's now not afraid to hide.

Looking gorgeous in a photoshoot in which she stuns in a swimsuit, Demi says she was saddened when so many people contacted her on social media asking how she covered up her skin.

Speaking to OK! magazine, she said: "I just want these people to embrace it and love themselves and realise you haven't got to cover these [patches] up - wear it with confidence."

Revealing how she used to hide the condition, Demi continued: "I used to get a really thick body make-up foundation, which was specially used for vitiligo. It used to take me hours to cover it up... so no-one would notice - it was exhausting."

The star added that she also used to spend 'ages' editing her skin on social media, revealing people used to stare at her skin, saying she could feel their eyes "wander" towards her patches.

But now Demi is bravely 'confident enough to let people notice it', adding she wants people to know about her condition, so they don't think it's "patchy fake tan".

"My advice for people with vitiligo is be patient, love yourself and if you do feel like you need to cover it up to be confident then do it," she continued, adding: "But I know that day will come when you don't feel like you have to."

Demi is currently filming her family's new reality show House of Sims, which insiders say could turn the star and her sisters Chloe and Frankie into the Kardashians as they attempt to take the US by storm.

TOWIE star Chloe told Closer magazine: “We’re proud to be The Sims, but being compared to The Kardashians all the time is a big compliment to us as a family.

“We want to see where this new show can take us, and plan to go global."

Opening up on how the filming is going, Demi revealed viewers would see a different side of the famous family, hinting that nothing was off the table in the much-hyped series, which is filled with "raw emotion".
