Demi Lovato criticises fans for sharing alleged ‘fake’ tweets from fiancé Max Ehrich about Selena Gomez

Demi Lovato has criticised her fans for sharing a series of “fake” tweets in which her fiancé Max Ehrich jokes about marrying Selena Gomez.

Last week, a series of screenshots circulated on social media in which the “Cool For The Summer” singer’s fiancée, to whom she became engaged in July, jokingly stated that he wanted to marry Lovato’s former best friend Gomez.

In one screenshot claiming to be from Ehrich’s Twitter account, the actor joked that he’d “fight” someone to marry Gomez, while another screenshot attributed to 2010 appeared to show Ehrich saying that Gomez was “prettier” than his fiancée.

The pictures also included a 2010 article from Just Jared Jr, in which Ehrich said that he would want to star opposite Gomez in a romantic comedy.

However, some fans called into question the validity of the tweet screenshots, with Ehrich’s Twitter account having since been deleted.

Seemingly responding to the posts, Lovato posted on her Instagram Story on Sunday (13 September) night: “It’s really sad when people FAKE images to put women against each other.

“If women have conflict that’s between them NOT YOU. Secondly, don’t y’all have more important s*** to write about in 2020???”

She continued: “I challenge any tabloid that dares to type my name to mention Breonna Taylor and the fact her murderers still haven’t been arrested.

“Yes, it’s easier to tear apart celebrities and their relationships because 2020 suck and scares the s*** out of us all but it’s only gonna stay terrifying until we address it all and WORK ON SOLUTIONS TOGETHER.”

Lovato and Gomez were friends since childhood, when they appeared on Barney together and later found fame on Disney Channel.

However, in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar from April, Lovato suggested that she was “not friends” with Gomez.
