Demba Ba pokes fun at Steven Gerrard's infamous Liverpool slip - and Chelsea's fans will love it

Demba Ba has poked fun at Liverpool by reminding them of the infamous Steven Gerrard slip five years ago.

The Reds were in the middle of a challenge for the Premier League title when an unfortunate slip from the skipper allowed Chelsea to win 2-0 - a crippling blow to those title hopes.

Of course, the Blues travel to Anfield once more in similar circumstances in the hope of gaining three points in the push for a top four finish - but with half an eye on dealing a similar blow to Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

Ba was the man responsible for converting after Steven Gerrard's slip, but while his finish came at the expense of the Liverpool talisman, the former Blues striker said that he has no sympathy.

Speaking to the Sun , Ba said: "I didn't feel sorry for him.

"I'm not a Steven Gerrard supporter. I'm not a Liverpool supporter. I'm not a Man City supporter or happy that they won the league.

'It's all part of the game. It's the same as Crystal Palace last year when they were safe and had nothing to play for, they went and played at Stoke and sent them down by winning. You go and do your job, you go to win.'

“When you talk about the one I scored against Paris, it’s great because it was the goal that took us to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Morata, Zouma, Mount - the Chelsea loan stars who could feature under Maurizio Sarri next season

“It is something that is great and more memorable to me.

“But that goal at Anfield hasn’t brought anything to us apart from to beat Liverpool away.

“It didn’t get us to another stage, it didn’t make us win the league or whatever. It’s like any other normal goal I would have scored.”
