Demaryius Thomas happy to be alive after car crash: ‘I could have been gone’

Receiver Demaryius Thomas shared strong feelings about his car accident in January during an interview this week.

Thomas, who signed with the New England Patriots this offseason, discussed that accident during his “Summer Break” event in Atlanta, Georgia. Thomas was arrested for vehicular assault due to the crash, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. He was driving 70 miles per hour in a 30 mile-per-hour zone when he hit a curb and flipped his SUV. One of his two passengers was seriously injured. He sustained minor injuries

“I could have been gone,” Thomas told TMZ Sports. “It was a tough time, and I’m still going through stuff, but I’m blessed.”

From the clip that TMZ shared, Thomas didn’t mention the other passengers during his interview, instead reflecting upon his personal struggle with the incident.

“I wake up every morning and thank the lord above,” Thomas said “And, just thankful for just not even just being able to do what I do — being able to talk, walk, eat, all those things that we forget about on a daily basis.”
