DeMarcus Lawrence defends snubbing a young Giants fan’s autograph request

The Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants are rivals. They simply don’t like each other. But when it comes to a young fan seeking an autograph, many may assume that team allegiances have little sway on a player’s decision to sign an autograph.

Yeah, don’t tell that to DeMarcus Lawrence because he doesn’t want to hear it.

A video went viral over the weekend that showed a young fan in a Saquon Barkley Giants jersey approach the Cowboys star for an autograph. Lawrence took a look at the youngster and kept walking. He replied, “Get the right jersey, son.” And then got into a van and left.

Plenty of NFL fans thought that Lawrence took the rivalry a bit too far there and punished a kid for simply wearing the jersey of a division rival.

Well, Lawrence had a response on Tuesday for any fan upset over the snub: “Suck it up.”

Lawrence explained on Twitter that there are plenty of diehard, young Cowboys fans out there who never had the opportunity to ask for his autograph, so there was no way he was going to sign for a Giants fan before them.

He added the hashtag, #SorryNotSorry.

In a way that makes sense, but this was a kid — it’s always a nice gesture to sign an autograph for a kid, regardless of his or her favorite team.
