DeMarcus Cousins is ready to increase his minutes post All-Star break

Now that the All-Star break is over, the Warriors are preparing for the stretch run heading into the NBA playoffs. As the team gets ready to face the Sacramento Kings to open their “second half,” ESPN’s Nick Friedell wrote about coach Steve Kerr’s announcement regarding DeMarcus Cousins’ minutes. Kerr has been clear about not putting an exact restriction on Cousins’ playing time throughout the season, but noted that the center will receive a change in minutes soon.

“We’ll see how the games go. I don’t think we’ll change the plan too much in terms of how we’re going to play him in the rotations and all that, but I think once we get back into the rhythm we can absolutely play him for longer stretches, play him down the stretch if we like.”

Cousins was asked what he thought about how the Warriors have integrated him so far, and had all positive thoughts towards the staff, but hopes that his minutes increase significantly.

Cousins is currently averaging 23.4 minutes since his return to the court on January 18. Kerr said that he, along with the rest of the Warriors staff, will be monitoring Cousins closely as the team makes another Finals push.
